- Omnivex Corporation – a provider of enterprise software for digital signage networks – has announced that St. Joseph Hospital in Orange County, Calif., is using the company’s software to provide better access to the operative status of each patient in its operating facility.
- St. Joseph Hospital’s existing patient database is updated as patient and operative statuses change. Omnivex’s intelligent digital signage solution enables the hospital to deliver critical patient data from that system – appropriately formatted in real-time – on 14 large-format LCD monitors located throughout the operating facility – from pre-operative to surgery to the post-operative care unit.
- By pulling information from the primary patient database, Omnivex software allows doctors, nurses and administrators to quickly see any changes in patient status, operating room availability and more. This capability reduces errors, while improving overall efficiency.
- “Omnivex software delivers intelligent data at the points where the most critical decisions are made,” said Terrence Wooten, business and materials resource manager for surgical services and endoscopy at St. Joseph Hospital. “With the installation of Omnivex software, our staff can now view the current status of each case in real-time, with no additional data entry required, resulting in improved efficiency and a better informed staff.”
- “The deployment at St. Joseph Hospital underscores the paramount importance of delivering real-time, contextual information to the practitioners who need it most,” said Jeff Collard, president of Omnivex. “The hospital is at the forefront of interactive applications in healthcare and a prime example of how Omnivex shortens the information supply chain.”
- Kenneth Gisstennar, president of Spinitar, a leading audio-visual systems integrator that deployed Omnivex software at St. Joseph, called the hospital’s digital signage “one of the most efficient systems in use today.”
- “This deployment provides the St. Joseph team with a hands-free system that functions in real-time. OR staff have the ability to identify the status of operating rooms from the convenience of multiple workstations and well-placed LCD displays, thus improving the efficiencies of the OR facility,” said Gisstennar.
- “Spinitar selected Omnivex software as the platform of choice for its ability to interface with St. Joseph’s Patient Management System, and for its ability to manage multiple displays from a single control point with no additional programming or data entry required.”
