Magenta Research, a provider of video, audio, and serial signal distribution and switching over Cat5/5e/6 UTP cable, has won a significant contract associated with gasoline pump dynamic signage being deployed by Gas Station TV, based in Oak Park, Michigan.
Following extensive comparison pilot testing at Murphy Oil locations in Dallas, Texas, Gas Station TV selected the approach utilizing Magenta's MultiView Series Cat5 transmitters, multiport transmitters, distribution hubs, and receivers. The equipment distributes computer video and audio signals over a single Cat5 cable to the gas pumps, where 20-inch high-definition, daylight- viewable LCDs entertain and inform customers while they fill up.
Four hundred stations were scheduled for dynamic signage installations by the end of 2006. Gas Station TV has contracted with ABC to provide content such as "News You Can Use" segments and local news, weather, and traffic updates.
