- Extron Electronics has introduced the HDMI 201 Tx/Rx HDMI Extender, a transmitter and receiver set for sending HDMI signals over long distances using conventional twisted pair cabling such as Cat-5e, Cat-6, and Cat-7. It fully supports HDMI for extending digital video, multichannel audio, and control signals from HDMI-equipped devices.
- The HDMI 201 Tx/Rx is capable of transmitting HDTV signals over 200 feet and computer-video signals over 100 feet at UXGA (1600 x 1200) resolution. It is HDCP-compliant, fully supporting long-distance transmission of HDCP (high-bandwidth digital content protection) signals, used for copy protection of HDTV broadcasts and high-resolution content from DVD players and HD set-top boxes.
A dual-18 subwoofer built for flown or ground-stack applications, the new WL218-sw subwoofer from QSC meets the demands of touring and installed sound reinforcement professionals. It is operable down to 31 Hz and capable of delivering high acoustic output (139 dB SPL@1m). Each cabinet features extensive internal bracing that eliminates acoustical losses caused by panel resonance. The design's integrity is further enhanced by vent walls constructed of the same plywood as the outer enclosure, and strategically located ports capable of moving large amounts of air with a minimum of turbulence.
Kramer Electronics' Power Tower Plus connection manager, model number TC-PTP01B, is designed for use in table-mount applications. The unit provides a 15-pin HD computer graphics video connector, a 3.5mm stereo audio jack, an RJ-45 connector, a USB connector, and a power connector in a compact, cylindrical-shaped pull-up system. It has a 10-foot cable on the underside corresponding to each of the input connectors that can be wired into the system. The rocking cover will tilt to provide an exit path for the connected cables.
Peavey's Kosmos V2 live and recording audio processor is a dynamic phasing technology that manipulates low and high frequencies to deepen bass and widen highs through phasing rather than equalization, and helps mask the comb-filtering problems common in live sound productions. The Kosmos V2 features front-panel rotary controls for adjusting the parameters and levels of Kosmos processing. Sub-harmonics has a special low damping button that adjusts the tightness of the low bass. The cut sub from mains switch directs the low-frequency energy to the subwoofers only. Subwoofer control sets the level of sub in the mix, and features a crossover disable switch.
Fire-Lite Alarms' MS-9200UDLS addressable control panel combines the capabilities of fire alarm control panel and digital alarm communicator/ transmitter into one circuit board. The MS-9200UDLS features LiteSpeed, a speed signaling line circuit protocol that simultaneously polls ten devices at a time. The LiteSpeed technology polls the device several times to receive the new data. This allows a fully-loaded panel to report an incident and activate the notification circuits in less than ten seconds. With LiteSpeed, devices can be wired on standard twisted and unshielded wire with distances up to 10,000 feet per loop.
Barix AG's Instreamer-100 and Exstreamer-100 audio encoding and decoding products build on the flexibility of previous-generation products to improve performance for both commercial and professional applications. The Instreamer and Exstreamer systems offer scalability for IP audio decoding, distribution, encoding, and monitoring.
The Instreamer-100 encodes audio from analog and digital devices into MP3 format in real time for point-to-point or multipoint delivery over the internet or IP-based systems. The Exstreamer-100 decodes the audio at the receiving address. Unlike previous Exstreamer models, the Exstreamer-100 offers redundancy through automatic switchover to backup streams or USB playback if the main stream is unavailable.
Canton's CD 3200 Loudspeaker
Canton's CD 3200 is a 2.5-way active loudspeaker that boasts a built-in 200-Watt IcePower amplifier module and four aluminum 4-inch mid/bass drivers. The new model features the same cabinet design and driver arrangement as the CD 300 speaker, but has been engineered to make optimal use of the increased power and response the internal amplifier provides. High-frequency reproduction in the Canton CD 3200 is handled by Canton's ADT-25 aluminum-manganese tweeter. The speaker uses a 2.5-way crossover, whereby the lower pair of 4-inch drivers reproduce low-frequency bass signals exclusively, while the upper pair reproduce both bass and midrange sounds.
Da-Lite's Screen Designer Software
Da-Lite Screen Company's Screen Designer software for its home theater product line was created for custom installers who encounter specific jobsite limitations for the projection screen. It allows for the configuration of a custom product unique to the client's theater requirements. The software guides the user through the selection process of configuring the projection screen with all possible options and available accessories, in turn generating custom drawings with multiple product views and all pertinent dimensions for the projection screen. Upon completion of the design steps, Screen Designer software generates a quotation, which includes suggested retail pricing and the appropriate part number with proper suffixes including all custom options.
Crestron's APAD LCD wall-mount room controller is part of its Adagio family of products. The bi-directional APAD offers a modern design and features a dot-matrix LCD display for an enhanced user experience. The APADs NavWheel interface is inspired by the iPod ClickWheel. The APAD LCD controller features four backlit, white, translucent soft-buttons; a NavWheel; and a 128 x 64 dot-matrix LCD display. This 2-way active keypad controller provides full control room control, and real-time active feedback display of all devices including media servers and iPods. The LCD screen displays meta-data such as podcasts and video titles; allows users to scroll through menu screens and select sources and content, volume levels, room temperature, and monitor device status.
TV One's Edge Blending Software
TV One's Edge Blending feature is now available for download for the entire CORIO2 C2-7000 line of multi-format scaling seamless switchers. Edge Blending is not limited to high-resolution RGB computer images, but includes composite video, S-video, YUV or YPbPr component video, SD-SDI, HD-SDI, DVI or any of the multiple formats supported by the various models listed above.
Gamma correction is employed to compensate for many of the problems faced when doing edge blending between projectors. Unique alignment signals within the C2 products take the hassle out of projector alignment and makes setting up edge Blending quick and easy. The edge-blending feature can also be used for other effects, such as adding a soft edge to single or dual picture-in-picture (PIP) windows on each output.
Samsung's SyncMaster LCD Monitors
Samsung Electronics has added its latest 19-, 20-, and 22-inch widescreen LCD monitors to its line of SyncMaster displays--the SyncMaster 940BW, SyncMaster 205BW, and SyncMaster 225BW. The new monitors are designed for both retail and commercial applications, and feature a slim design and ultra-narrow bezel. The monitors boast a wide format as well as features such as Samsung's own MagicTuneT, MagicBrightIIT and MagicSpeedT technologies, and digital/analog dual inputs and a built-in power supply. All three monitors are VESA wall-mount-compatible.
Honeywell has released its Crystal HDMI cable assembly, an interconnection solution for HDMI-enabled components such as HDTV-ready televisions, projectors, satellite boxes, and new HD-DVD and Blu-Ray players. Capable of supporting the latest 1080p resolution (1920 x 1080 @60 Hz), Crystal HDMI cables deliver uncompressed video and multichannel audio via a single cable without noise or degradation, simplifying the installation process and eliminating an unsightly bundle of wires.
Digital View's M3-100, -200 Media Players
Digital View's M3-100 and M3-200 media players feature content scheduling via a real-time clock and calendar, full playlist control, database capabilities, RS-232 ports, USB ports, NTSC/PAL S-video ,and analog RGB video output. The media players will support MPEG 1, MPEG 2, MPEG 4, and JPEG video formats stored on a solid-state CompactFlash (CF) memory card.
The M3-100 entry-level media player provides a "client" USB connection that permits the content on the CF card to be updated onsite from a Windows-based PC. The M3-200 player features an enhanced "Host USB" capability that can accept content updates from an industry-standard USB memory stick, enabling rapid and convenient updates to players in installed locations.
Turbosound's TA-500 Speaker
Turbosound's TA-500 is the latest addition to the company's Aspect speaker series. It is a trapezoidal, 3-way, full-range cabinet, offering a dispersion pattern of 50 degrees horizontal by 25 degrees vertical, combined with medium-throw characteristics. It features a similar driver complement, voicing, and sharp coverage cutoff to the narrower-dispersion TA-880 products, allowing the two types of cabinet to be arrayed together, seamlessly creating a smooth and phase-coherent wave front.
DPI's VIP 2000 Processor
Digital Projection International (DPI) has released its latest video image processor and source switcher, the VIP 2000. It is compatible with DPI's line of single- and 3-chip DLP projectors. Equipped with the same Silicon Optix Realta HQV processor as DPI's original VIP 1000, the VIP 2000 offers a solution for image scaling, input switching, video noise reduction, and audio follow video routing. The VIP 2000 harnesses a series of de-interlacing algorithms to enhance imagery delivered from both standard-definition and high-definition sources. Additionally, onboard multichannel audio processing automatically compensates for frame delay, to assure source audio remains synchronized with the post-processed video.
APB-DynaSonics' MixSwitch rackmount mixing product provides the ability to switch between a primary digital or analog console and a backup console, or between headline and opening-act consoles in concert/presentation situations in switch mode or operation of both consoles simultaneously in sum mode. In addition to its primary switching duties, MixSwitch provides an announce microphone input as well as a stereo music program input for music playback, each with EQ and limiting, and assignment to any of its four outputs. Additional stereo XLR line input allows interface for a third console or facility input. These functions are independent of the primary or secondary console.
Outlaw Audio's LFM-1 Plus subwoofer is a more flexible version of its LFM-1 model that gives consumers selectable tuning options that favor either maximum SPL output, or lower frequency bass extension depending on source material and preference. The LFM-1 Plus builds upon the down-firing enclosure design and 12-inch long-throw woofer of its older sibling through the inclusion of a custom-designed port plug and EQ circuit that is used to select between the tuning modes. Additionally, the new model incorporates a 350-watt BASH power amplifier, an increase of 25 watts over the LFM-1's 325-watt version, in order to handle the increased power demands at low frequencies.

Harris' DL-860 Serial Digital Legalizer
Harris Corporation's DL-860 serial digital legalizer eliminates the guesswork of signal legalization for both HD and SD. The DL-860 serial digital legalizer expands upon the features of the DL-850HD, providing support for SD as well as HD input signals. The DL-860 accepts all HD and SD formats, with complete flexibility for legalizing HDI-SDI or SD-SDI signals. The DL-860 output format tracks the input format, and the signal can be legalized to HD, SD, RGB, and/or encoded color space. CRC values are monitored and recalculated to ensure proper output values. The DL-860 has a selection to pass or blank all ancillary data without any alteration except CRC correction. All limits are variable, allowing for many custom configurations to the HD clips, SD clips, encoded gamut, and RGB gamut limits.
Speco Technologies adds to its reputation as the "Home of the Dome" with additional features such as day/night functions, IR LEDs, anti-reflective technology, weatherproof, and tamperproof designs which have allowed Speco Technologies' full line of dome cameras to move into large commercial markets. These functions, along with existing light intensification and high-end CCDs, bring low-light and high-resolution capabilities to a higher plateau.
iZotope Plug-Ins Updates
iZotope has released updates for its Ozone 3, Spectron, and Trash plug-ins. The updated versions include many usability enhancements as well as support for the latest operating systems and host applications. Updates include universal binary versions for Intel-based Macs; support for 64-bit Windows applications; improved authorization system; improved delay compensation support with delay freeze function; and "alt-solo" bandwidth can be changed with the mouse wheel.
Ozone 3 updates include improved EQ snapshot import under Mac OS X and smooth crossover changes in multi-band modules. Trash updates include fully automatable buzz module, 200 percent feedback settings for buzz module, smooth crossover changes in multi-band modules, and host tempo sync for delay time and LFO rate. Spectron updates include host tempo sync for LFO rate, host tempo sync for delay module nodes, and numeric entry for node parameters.
AVerMedia Technologies' AVerVision150 Camera
AVerMedia Technologies' AVerVision150 portable document camera features 3 megapixel resolution, image capture, and PC/MAC web cam applications, detachable LED light module, and patented AVerZoom technology. The AVerVision150 produces the sharpest and clearest images offered in a portable document camera, including not only documents and objects, but the ability to display microscopic images as well. The Uni-Q driver projects a broad frequency range from just a single point. Uni-Q places its aluminum dome tweeter in the acoustic center of a mid-bass cone, resulting in a single-point-source driver. Vista Systems' DX4 Digital Board
Vista Systems' DX4 quad-output digital board features four DVI outputs on a single card. DX4 enables horizontal and vertical edge blending, black level compensation, and output rotation. In addition to these features, DX4 allows for more physical inputs or output boards to be placed into a single frame. SpyderPoint, the add-in for PowerPoint that allows Spyder to be run in a normal PowerPoint presentation, is also included in this release.
Spyder's scripting controls have been enhanced as well. The scripting controls in the user interface have been completely redone to allow script programming to be viewed and edited more logically. Many new drag-drop features have been added, too. Utilizing BVW 75 protocol, Spyder scripts now fully support external time code triggering with or without play items. Wait cues and jumps have also been added.
LifeSize's LifeSize Team
LifeSize's LifeSize Team is now available worldwide. LifeSize Team is a high-definition video communications system specifically designed for distributed project teams and work groups that often interact in small conferencing environments. Based on the same technology as the company's LifeSize Room, LifeSize Team delivers top-notch video and audio quality so geographically distributed participants can maximize their collaboration efforts.It provides 1280 x 720 resolution at 30 frames per second and wide-band audio up to 16 kHz. It includes a high-definition codec, and the same pan/tilt/zoom high-definition camera, audioconferencing speakerphone, and wireless remote control as LifeSize Room.
AMD's DMR Version 2 Software
Advanced Media Design (AMD) has released its Version 2 software for its digital media recorders (DMR), digital network printers (DNP), and digital video capturers (DVC) product lines. The new software can be applied across the existing product line and is standard on MediaPOINTE's new DMR150, 160, 210, and 310.
Software Version 2 brings improved file management to the DMR line, including greater folder security options, SMTP support and its CopyMe! technology. CopyMe! utilizes an integrated optical drive and flash drive port so users can record a session and immediately take it with them after a meeting. A new user interface adds functionality to the DMR series with a simple onscreen menu system that includes a handheld remote control. MediaPOINTE's Version 2 software enhances third-party control, including expanded IR for wireless communications and telnet for easier off-site management.
Meridian Audio's 200 Series in-ceiling designs and the 300 Series of in-wall/flush-mount and on-wall systems allow flexibility of configuration. They can be supplied as passive speakers to be driven by conventional external amplification, or as a "remote active" analog system driven by a G41 powered crossover/amplifier, including 8 x 100W power amplifier and modular plug-in electronic crossovers, which can handle up to five channels of audio. An upcoming firmware revision for the G68 surround processor will integrate the new speakers directly via Meridian's configuration application.
The 200 Series are 2-way designs with an 8-inch bass driver, pivoting tweeter, and optional crossover, for either surface grille or flush-mounting. The 300 Series consists of three ultra-slimline systems for in-wall (surface grille), flush-mount (completely hidden, e.g. behind wall coverings) and on-wall applications, featuring 6.5-inch bass drivers, and a wide-dispersion ribbon tweeter. The 300 Series is available in conventional passive configuration, with a built-in crossover and terminals for bi-wire/biamped operation.
Multidyne's TP-RGB-1000 transports RGB/UXGA and stereo audio over more than 1,000 feet of UTP CAT-5, 5e and 6 cables. The system supports UXGA resolutions of up to 1600 x 1200. The TP-RGB-1000 includes automatic equalization and anti-skew technology. The TP-RGB-1000 receiver unit has a daisy-chain or repeater option. One RGB/UXGA source can be daisy-chained to multiple monitors.
The TP-RGB-1000 supports computer video graphical input signals on a female 15-pin HD connector and transmits the video on a shielded female RJ-45 connector. The unit also accepts PC audio on a 3.5 mm stereo mini jack. The TP-RGB-1000 supports video with 15-130 kHz horizontal scan rate and a 30-150 Hz vertical scan rate. The system is compatible with nearly every video graphics format.
OmniMount Systems' EAR-S and EAR-C have been specifically designed to allow flat-panel speakers to be attached to cantilevers that are holding flat panels so the speakers stay uniform with the mounted televisions even when extended away from the wall.
OmniMount's EAR-S and EAR-C mounting accessories allow for optimal sound quality as the viewing angle of a flat panel is changed. The EAR-S is for the installation of left and right speakers. Both mounts ship in a single package, and include cable management capabilities. The EAR-C is for the installation of center-channel speakers, to provide a full L, C, R array for the flat panel. Additionally, the EAR-C can be used by itself to mount one of the 5-channel speaker bars to produce an integrated surround system.
Xytech's Education Courseware
Xytech Systems has introduced new educational offerings, called Xytech Education. Newly created courseware and lesson plans for the core modules provide customers with an accelerated learning path for faster and even more efficient deployment of the Xytech Enterprise software. Xytech Education courseware gives customers the opportunity to customize lessons and reference materials to their own processes and methods of operation. In addition to the already-available on-site customized training classes, Xytech Education will offer private instruction in a classroom environment, held in a Xytech Systems facility and including an instructor and all course materials.
Teq Gear's Matrix Switchers
Teq Gear has introduced its RGBHV (MSR) and RGBHV + Audio (MSQ) matrix switchers. New to the U.S., but commonly used in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia, the high-performance RGBHV matrix switcher is available in configurations from 8 x 2 to 128 x 128. With bandwidth of more than 400 MHz on a fully loaded switcher and sold at competitive pricing, these matrix switchers are a true alternative for all large and smaller AV installations.
Apollo Display's Artista Control Center Lite Software
Apollo Display's Artista Control Center Lite software works in conjunction with the ArtistaNET or ArtistaUSB display controllers to control multiple displays simultaneously, displaying similar or different content with just one user PC via connection to a LAN or USB interface. Applications include digital advertising, POI/POS displays, HMIs for machine control, status displays, and a range of other uses. The software automatically recognizes up to six Artista kits, which include the ArtistaNET or ArtistaUSB controller, six TFT LCDs, all necessary inverters, cables and power supplies, and a client PC.
Niles Audio Corporation's FM-1 and FM-1R system cooling modules keep audio and video equipment cool and running smoothly thanks to variable-speed, temperature-sensing, dual 12VDC fans that move 150 cubic feet of air per minute at just the right times. The modules are operated by a brushless motor, so operation is whisper-quiet, virtually eliminating background fan noise.
Featuring remote trigger inputs that turns the fan on and off automatically, both the FM-1 and the FM-1R have a trigger loop output that can be daisy-chained to additional trigger devices or fan cooling modules. Additionally, a 2-minute turn-off delay circuit prevents heat buildup in the rack or cabinet once equipment has been turned off.
Klotz Digital's VADIS 212 is a compact audio router and DSP engine. The VADIS 212 is the direct successor of the VADIS 210 and handles up to 256 x 256 I/O channels. It offers improved aesthetics and an enhanced front-panel display. The main improvement is the integration of the fanless PSU, and frame size was reduced down to three rack units without loss of performance. The VADIS 212 still provides all features of the VADIS product line with its flexible architecture for getting any signal anywhere, reducing wiring cost by using fiber cabling, as well as a combination of modular design and freely assignable slots enabling the system to grow with the user's needs.
Renkus-Heinz's Iconyx Array System
Renkus-Heinz has released the IC7 self-powered and ICX7 non-powered Iconyx array systems. The IC7 and ICX7 are passive arrays with fixed beams that can be mechanically steered. The slender "thin stick" vertical profile mounts flat to the wall, blending easily with both classical and contemporary architecture. The integrated system inside provides a new solution for consultants, contractors, and architects who need precise control of acoustic energy.
StereoStone provides two choices for powering its outdoor "Sub Rock" speaker systems. For those audiophiles that require an integrated power supply within the sub rock itself, StereoStone also offers the Sunfire Sub Rock.
This complete system includes a single, 10-inch outdoor subwoofer that also incorporates an integrated 1,000-Watt Sunfire D10 amplifier that is fitted into a StereoStone rock enclosure. This is designed to give protection to the powered internal amplifier from the surrounding outdoor elements. The system has the low frequency and volume preset within the enclosure and requires an additional 110-/220-Volt speaker run.
:Artison has released its RCC 600 reactance-canceling in-wall subwoofer. Built utilizing a configuration that eliminates vibrations and sound distortion, the RCC 600 has a sound/bass performance that equals or surpasses that of an oversized floor-standing 12-inch subwoofer. It has advanced features, such as automatic room equalization and variable low-pass slopes. Sound controls--like power, gain, movie mode, and music mode--are front-panel-accessible.
VizionWare's Hi-Wirez cables feature numerous proprietary technologies such as image enhancing circuitry, signal balancing, digital signal processing, enhanced transmission technology and optimal spectral diffusion. The combination of these technologies with manufacturing materials and processes has resulted in video-quality cables that are lighter and more flexible. Hi-Wirez HDMI interconnects are available in 1-, 2-, 5-, 7-, and 10-meter lengths.
