Wowza Media Server 2 is a Java engine that simultaneously delivers content from a single set of live or on-demand H.264 video or AAC/MP3 audio streams to multiple clients and devices, eliminating the need for specialized, client-specific encoders.
According to Wowza, it is the industry's first unified media server, and can deliver content to any player or device, including Flash, Silverlight, QuickTime, and IPTV set-top boxes, as well as video-friendly mobile devices like Android and Blackberry phones, and Apple iPhone and iPad.
Wowza Media Server 2 makes it easy and affordable to deliver a high volume of audio and video content over IP networks, either public or private, to desktop/laptop computers (Web TV), mobile phones/tablets (mobile TV), or IP set-top boxes (IPTV). Improved economies of scale and reduced encoding, storage, and management expense mean radio and television broadcasters, content delivery network (CDN) service providers, and other media enterprises save money, improve efficiency, and streamline systems.
