ROCKLEDGE, FL--Island Systems and Design has been named to the prestigious Hispanic Business 500 for the eleventh consecutive year. Island Systems & Design (Paquito & Sons, Inc.) generated $10.5 million in revenue in 2008.
- In its 27th year, the Hispanic Business 500 is a directory of the largest Hispanic-owned companies with annual revenues from $4.6 million to $3.5 billion. Total revenues for all Hispanic Business companies totaled $36.15 billion in 2008, a 0.1 percent increase over 2007. This small increase is encouraging and refreshing when compared to the Fortune 500’s 85% plunge in 2008. Companies included in the Hispanic Business 500 must show at least 51 percent ownership by Hispanic U.S citizens, and be headquartered within one of the 50 states.
- “Although the business environment became more difficult in 2008, we were fortunate to increase our sales by focusing on specific markets where we’ve had a record of success”, says Island System & Designs CEO, Carlos Gonzalez.
Geographically, Florida is the clear leader in developing Hispanic companies, posting 121 companies on the list this year. Seven of the twenty largest Hispanic owned businesses come from the Sunshine State. For more information on the Hispanic Business 500, visit www.hispanicbusiness.com
