All Roads Lead West

As we head again to Las Vegas--this time for NAB--it’s exciting to think about everything on the industry agenda this spring and summer. NAB itself has an impressive slate of exhibits and seminars in store—from digital cinema to large venue staging to content management. Even as the broadcast world has retrenched, NAB has grown other facets of the show to address broadcast/staging and content/software crossover that is breeding interesting new products and services.

We’ll be heading back to Las Vegas in June, as InfoComm once again descends on the city, June 4–10. There are so many rental and staging industry activities planned for InfoComm, it’s hard to know where to begin.

columnist and past chair of the ICIA Rental and Staging Council, Don Guzauckas, will conduct a special full-day session on Super Tuesday, called “Managing the Rental Market,” covering inventory management (featuring top rental software vendors on a special panel); marketing trends; increasing ROI and profit in the rental market; staffing issues and solutions; and insurance and loss prevention. With ample time for group interaction and networking, this is a session you won’t want to miss.

And new ICIA Rental and Staging Council Tom Stimson (of Alford Media), also a Rental & Staging Systems columnist) will be overseeing a number of Council activities at the show. If you haven’t plugged into the Rental and Staging Council, now is the time. Don’t wait until you’re in Las Vegas and events are full to capacity.

The ICIA is again co-sponsoring the AV industry's top award programs, the Rental & Staging Systems Awards, the Systems Contractor News Installation Product Awards, and the ARCHI-TECH Awards, at InfoComm.

Capping off Super Tuesday, winners of the awards will be revealed at the AV Communications Excellence Awards Banquet June 7, where information communications and audiovisual professionals celebrate the success of leaders and pioneers in the industry. During the Banquet, ICIA will also announce the winners of its annual Distinguished Achievement Award, Educator of the Year Award, and Volunteer of the Year Award.

The AV Communications Excellence Awards Banquet at InfoComm premiered at InfoComm 2004 as a sold-out event for the industry. This year’s Awards Banquet will take place following the InfoComm opening reception at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Tickets will be sold through InfoComm 05 registration; tables may be sponsored through ICIA (exhibitsales@infocomm.org).
