Simon Wilson Appointed MediaTile CEO

  • MediaTile, a provider of cellular digital signage solutions, has announced that Simon Wilson, MediaTile COO, has been promoted to CEO and member of the Board of Directors in support of the company’s dramatic growth and demand for its popular and unique Digital Sign in a Box and Kiosk in a Box solutions. Former MediaTile CEO and chairman, Keith Kelsen, remains executive chairman of the board, and will increasingly focus his efforts on the company’s longer-term vision and goals while evangelizing, educating and enhancing the world wide digital signage industry through speaking appearances and defining industry best practices. Mr. Kelsen is the chairperson of the Content Best Practices committee for the internationally recognized Digital Signage [trade] Association. Both Mr. Wilson and Mr. Kelsen remain at the company’s headquarters, located in California’s Silicon Valley area.
  • “I am delighted to bring Simon Wilson into the role of CEO to enable MediaTile to continue on its path of dramatic growth and enhanced customer experiences,” said Keith Kelsen, executive chairman of The MediaTile Company. “In his time here at MediaTile, Mr. Wilson has clearly demonstrated his aptitude for operational excellence, leadership and delivery. With more than 200 networks in operation using MediaTile products and services, and many more in the pipeline, it is vital for us to apply more concentrated focus and energy to this critical role.”
  • “Mr. Kelsen has built a global organization that is delivering world-wide networks which are remarkably easy to deploy and use,” said Simon Wilson, CEO of MediaTile. “The business opportunities for MediaTile’s unique ‘Digital Sign in a Box’, cellular digital signage technology, and dynamic media services are tremendous. Our customers experience a very rapid return on their digital signage investment thanks to our robust solutions, innovative technologies and SaaS delivery model. Whether they are running a small, private store network of 20 displays, or a corporate network of hundreds of displays across the globe, my goal is simple: to orchestrate the continued growth of MediaTile while delivering exceptional products and services that deliver true, and relevant, business value.”
  • Mr. Wilson joined MediaTile in January 2008 as its chief operating officer. In this role, Mr. Wilson streamlined MediaTile’s manufacturing and customer delivery systems to meet the growing demand for its popular and patent-pending cellular digital signage systems. Under Mr. Wilson’s direction, the company has dramatically improved systems, processes and delivery times for large customers, who require hundreds of displays in the best possible time.
  • Before joining MediaTile, Mr. Wilson was CFO and EVP of operations at SurfControl, a publicly-traded internet content security company, where he successfully guided the company through its acquisition by Websense in 2007. Prior to that he was a partner at KPMG, providing strategic advisory and M&A services to private and public software and IT services clients. Mr. Wilson has broad international experience covering countries in the Americas, China, Pac Rim, and Europe as well as extensive operational, financial and strategic experience in running, growing, raising financing, and buying/selling software companies.
  • “The market outlook for Digital Signage, and MediaTile, is extremely bright,” said Keith Kelsen, executive chairman of MediaTile. “Overall market growth is still in excess of 20% per year, according to recent analyst reports. Although other industries may be experiencing a slowdown, this could be the tipping point for the Digital Signage industry. Digital Signage, unlike TV, Radio and Print communication, delivers messages where and when it matters most, in a medium that is proven to be highly effective, and can be easily tied to performance metrics. When you combine these benefits with MediaTile’s business value, you have a communications solution that delivers much more, for much less.”
