- OXNARD, CA--Rat Sound Systems of Oxnard, California has beefed up its inventory of L-ACOUSTICS K1 systems to a grand total of 64 with the recent purchase of 16 additional enclosures. The new line source array systems are on track to arrive in time for April's Coachella and Stagecoach festivals, which will feature multiple K1-equipped stages.
- The sound company has also simultaneously added three new LA8-equipped LA-RAK touring racks and six ARCS enclosures to its arsenal. These new acquisitions join Rat Sound's previous supply of 18 LA-RAKs, 40 subwoofers (K1-SUB and SB28), and copious quantities of other L-ACOUSTICS systems like V-DOSC and KUDO.
- "We are seeing a very strong demand and interest in the K1 system," says Rat Sound's Dave Rat. "Not only do our existing V-DOSC clients want to switch over, but we're receiving requests to bid on tours for new clients as well. Since the K1 is basically a 'super V-DOSC', the transition is really easy. We are already looking at an unusually strong summer season and we attribute a good percentage of that to demand for the K1.
- "A year ago, when we first jumped into buying a massive K1 system amidst the challenging economy, we expected that demand would take a few years to build for this amazing system. What we did not expect is that we would be already expanding it. We can use fewer boxes and reach higher SPL levels with better coverage and sound quality. Plus it sets up faster and takes up less truck space than our other systems."
- In the past 12 months, Rat Sound's K1 system has notably been out on tours with Pearl Jam and Blink-182, as well as deployed on the main stages of last year's huge Coachella and Stagecoach festivals in Indio, California. Rat adds, "K1 will be used on more than one stage this year, and our entire K1 and V-DOSC inventory will be working either at Coachella or on other tours during the Coachella/Stagecoach time frame."
