PITTSBURGH, PA—For the second time in four years, The Sextant Group has been recognized by The Pittsburgh Business Times as one of Western Pennsylvania’s “Best Places to Work”. The acknowledgement was announced at an awards ceremony in Pittsburgh attended by more than 500 CEOs, HR Directors and other executives from local companies.
The Sextant Group employees participated in the survey without the knowledge of president Mark Valenti. “Considering the remarkable growth the firm has undergone, virtually doubling the number of employees in the last 23 months, plus adding a new office in metro New York this past summer, I am totally surprised and delighted,” said Valenti. “Not only is it an honor to be distinguished from over 33,000 firms in the region, but it’s all the sweeter because of the judges—our company’s own employees.”
This year, the national Pittsburghbased consulting and design firm specializing in audiovisual technologies, information technologies and acoustics, was ranked 47th in the small company category, and 62nd overall among all participating firms in the 2009 survey.
In order to qualify for the award, Sextant personnel completed an online questionnaire asking about employee involvement in the company, management engagement, trust in leadership, and overall satisfaction. Of the over 150 firms participating, smaller firms required the largest percentage of participation to qualify.
