CLEARWATER, FL--Tech Data Corporation has made it easier for IT resellers to introduce their end-user customers to IP physical security and video conferencing, two of the channel's fastest-growing networking applications. The distributor enhanced its 5,500-square-foot solutions center to include an IP video surveillance control station to showcase cameras and software from leading physical security vendors, and refreshed its video conferencing suite with new solutions from Polycom.
"Interest in physical security and video conferencing has been growing steadily this year,” said Tech Data vice president, networking product marketing, Chuck Bartlett. "At events like Tech Data's Technology Solutions Tour and TechSelect Partner Conferences, resellers are expressing interest in learning more about these technologies and the vendors that manufacture them. By visiting the Tech Data solutions center, resellers can gain hands-on experience working with these products, familiarizing themselves and their customers with the latest video surveillance and video conferencing solutions.”
More than 20 IP cameras—demonstrating different capabilities and resolutions—are attached to the video surveillance station from Tech Data vendors Axis Communications, D-Link, Linksys, Sony and Toshiba. Software from Axis, D-Link, Milestone, Toshiba and OnSSI demonstrate advanced analytics, recording and management capabilities IP Video Surveillance provides that most traditional analog security systems can not.
"Tech Data's video surveillance station is a great sales tool, and we encourage our VAR partners to take advantage of it,” said Keith A. Karlsen, executive vice president, D-Link Systems, Inc. "There are many advantages for businesses, government agencies and schools to upgrade their legacy security systems to a network-based solutions. By bringing their customers to the Tech Data solutions center, VARs can demonstrate those capabilities and show off D-Link cameras as part of a fully functioning security installation.”
Tech Data also partnered with Polycom to update the solution center's visual communication suite with new high definition video conferencing solutions. It now includes the vendor's HDX 9004 solution with Polycom's People On Content, which enables presenters to place themselves over video, slides and other content while standing in front of a green screen. The Polycom HDX 8002 XL and HDX 4000 video conferencing solutions ideal for small and medium businesses (SMBs) also are available for hands-on demonstrations.
"The best way to sell visual communication is to show it to someone in action, because the quality of Polycom telepresence solutions always impress,” said Rob Claus, vice president of worldwide distribution, Polycom. "VARs who demonstrate the UltimateHD quality of a Polycom telepresence system coupled with a strong ROI pitch focused on its ability to lower costs while increasing productivity and effectiveness are winning business. With Tech Data as a partner, VARs bring their customers to the Tech Data solutions center or arrange for remote demonstrations using their own equipment.”
