TORRANCE, CA--Stewart Filmscreen Corporation is taking a proactive approach in helping their employees stay healthy. As reports stream in daily from the mainstream media that Americans are more overweight than ever before and more overweight than other nationalities, Stewart's Total Health Program is about balancing, the mental, physical, and spiritual aspects of life for greater well being, on and off the job.
Stewart's health and wellness program for their employees is designed to improve their well-being and inspire healthier habits. The staff is encouraged to exercise at lunchtime Monday, Wednesday, and Friday plus they can participate in lunch & learn sessions, which teach them about nutritional concerns. The wellness program combines exercise and holistic stress management to improve ones mind/body/spirit.
Every employee had the opportunity to undergo a risk assessment conducted by Danielle Vindez, of Define Yourself Coaching. She found that the staff was enthusiastic about being informed about stress management, health and how to make better eating choices. The program pairs them up with walking partners and teaches them exercises and stretching techniques. These are designed to strengthen the back and abdomen that can suffer after sitting for hours at a time.
The onsite morning-stretch and flex, along with the lunchtime walking program began August 18. A monthly lunch and learn will begin in September. There will also be 8 sessions of a program called Be Choosy About What You Chew, which is an interactive, partner supportive and goal oriented program to achieve long-term effects.
