- Cables To Go, a provider of high-performance cabling and connectivity solutions, has announced Cat5 extenders for carrying HDMI and DVI signals across Cat5 Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) cables. This allows HDMI and DVI signals to be extended for much longer distances over cable that is less expensive and provides a much easier in-wall installation.
- “With both HDMI and DVI, we find many customers looking for a costeffective and reliable means to transmit the signals over longer distances,” said Gary Hess, Cables To Go director of product management. “With the Cat5 extenders, HDMI and DVI signals can be carried over Cat5 cable, which costs much less and has smaller connectors making it much easier to pull through a wall.”
- The Cables To Go TruLink HDMI over Cat5 Extender will transmit an HDMI signal up to 140 feet (43 meters) over two Cat5 UTP cables. Users can place their display across the room, in another room or on another floor while the video source remains in a convenient and secure location. With reliable transmission of signals up to 1080p, the HDMI over Cat5 Extender is well-suited for custom home theater installations and digital signage implementations.
- The Cables To Go TruLink DVI over Cat5 Extender transmits DVI signals up to 164 feet (50 meters) over two Cat5 UTP cables. Standard DVI cables are only capable of about 65 feet, making the DVI over Cat5 Extender useful for applications requiring remote computer placement.
