- This year Adder Technology is celebrating its 25th anniversary as a leading manufacturer and developer of KVM switches, extenders and KVM over IP solutions. Over the past quarter century Adder have gained a reputation as a pioneer in KVM switching and extension technology, and particularly in the area of audio and video.
- “This milestone would not have been possible without the dedication of our employees and valued business partners,” said Adrian Dickens, Adder’s founding director. “The KVM industry has seen many great advances in technology over the last twenty-five years and Adder has been at the forefront of developing new cutting edge technology and ideas in this field.”
- Adder is well known for the development of adaptive compression in KVM and extension solutions which has brought video and audio clarity to unprecedented levels. This ensures the best possible performance over any given network connection which is especially critical for video applications and KVM-over-IP, where excessive bandwidth utilization can easily cause video performance to deteriorate under shifting network conditions.
- Adder Publishing Limited was founded in 1984 by Adrian Dickens after graduating with an Electrical Sciences degree from Churchill College at the University of Cambridge (England). The company was soon re-branded Adder Technology Limited in 1986, at which point its focus changed to providing solutions for clients wishing to connect different elements of their computer operations, known in the IT industry as "computer connectivity". Originally the company started with boxes for sharing printers between several computers, which came before the mass deployment of networks, then moved on to producing various networking products.
- Adder Technology was one of the seed companies that sprang up in Cambridge to perpetuate the technology focused Silicon Fen. For many years, Adder Technology was based in the Cambridge Innovation centre on the Cambridge Science Park before moving to much larger office and manufacturing facilities in Bar Hill to cope with the business’s rapid expansion.
- Today, Adder manufactures KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) switches, extenders and remote management solutions that are available in 60 countries through a network of distributors, resellers and OEMs. Adder has experienced continued growth, allowing the company to open additional offices in the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, and Singapore, with a new office just opening in China. Adders latest technology, the AdderLink Infinity is testament to the companies love of innovation and technical prowess, delivering distributed computing across a network with perfect DVI video, USB and audio together with an almost limitless connectivity matrix.
