Over 140 stagers mixed it up with several hundred video production professionals at the Rental & Staging RoadShow in Los Angeles on December 5th. Held in conjunction with the DV Expo (Digital Video Expo) at the Los Angeles Convention Center, it was a good opportunity to assess the big picture in the video world, as well as see demos and new products from video to rental management tools to innovative new screens (including a water-vapor screen).
In addition to the tech sessions at the Roadshow, there were also manufacturer demos, exhibits, networking sessions, and more.
Primary Sponsors for the Roadshow were: Barco, Sonic Foundry, and FogScreen. Exhibitors were: AV Stumpfl, Barco, Christie, Da-Lite Screen, Digital Projection, Eiki, FogScreen, InfoComm, Intelevent, NewBay Media, Panasonic, Sonic Foundry, Sony, Telescript, and Unique Business Systems.
The Roadshow was comprised of technical and business tracks addressing key issues for industry professionals. InfoComm's Rental & Staging Committee chairman Tom Stimson taught classes for the business track, delving deep into issues such as "Selling Staging in a Flat World" and "The ONE Trend That Really Matters."
InfoComm International provided the tech track for the Roadshow, which featured Joel Rollins, presenting "New Tools for Show Planning", a guide to the use of inexpensive software and internet tools to deliver a show plan that works, impressing clients and suppliers in the process.
The Roadshow also featured manufacturer training from Barco, Christie, Da-Lite, and Sony.
The next Rental & Staging RoadShow will take place in Orlando on February 20, 2008.
