IRVINE, CA--VIZIO has received the Ernst & Young's Annual Entrepreneur of the Year 2008 Award in the Orange County/Desert Cities program. According to Ernst & Young LLP, the award recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic, growing businesses. The program honors entrepreneurs who have demonstrated exceptionality in such areas as innovation, financial performance, and personal commitment to their businesses and communities. Selected by an independent panel of judges, VIZIO was presented with the award during a gala event at the Hyatt Regency Irvine.

William Wang also won the Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award from the Business Journal earlier this year.
William Wang started VIZIO in 2003, and was the first consumer electronics manufacturer to market high performance, high value flat panel televisions to national retailers. In only five years, VIZIO grew from virtual obscurity to the fastest growing brand of flat panel TVs in North America. In 2007, VIZIO revenues reached close to $2 billion dollars with retailers such as Costco Wholesale, Sam's Club, Wal-Mart, SEARS, and Circuit City.
As an Orange County/Desert Cities award recipient, VIZIO is now eligible for consideration in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2008 national program. Award recipients in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year award recipient, will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, California on November 15, 2008. The awards are the culminating event of the Ernst & Young Strategic Growth Forum, the nation's most prestigious gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies.
